The exhibition explores life and painting in turbulent times and examines how we view the world amidst fake news, unstable political conditions and looming crises. For Plavčak, one of the key terms here is ‘sabotage’. The exhibition, curated by Hemma Schmutz, invites visitors not simply to accept the status quo, but to rebel against it and, at the same time, amidst the challenges of our era – such as social media, AI and the climate crisis – not to sabotage ourselves. Combined with quotes from popular culture, psychoanalysis and art-historical references, Plavčak creates exhibition worlds that, as a cosmos of their own, inspire reflection and visual enjoyment.
