Zanele Muholi, one of the most renowned contemporary photographers, uses photography as an act of political and personal resistance and exposes colonial and racist narratives. Since the 2000s, her work has focused on the theme of Black queer identity in South Africa and calls for a critical reflection on power relations and the culture of remembrance. The exhibition presents, for the first time in Austria, an extensive selection of both early and contemporary works.
