HUES OF HOME is a photographic exploration of the subtle nuances of home, belonging and a sense of security. The journey takes us to people with diverse backgrounds and life stories – from Lagos, Seattle and Alexandria, via Tittmoning, Nuremberg and Karelia, to Kurdistan, Damascus, Tanas and Tokyo. The starting point of the project is the encounter.
Through conversations, observations and photographic moments, Siegrid Cain explores a concept that, for many people, is anything but self-evident. Home is not portrayed as a fixed location, but as a fragile, fluid and fleeting feeling – shaped by memories, relationships and personal experiences. An analogue LEICA M rangefinder camera accompanies this journey.
The deliberate choice to work exclusively with the analogue medium creates space for slowness, mindfulness and the unpredictable. The resulting photographs are not traditional portraits of people or places. Rather, they are fragments, traces and moods that interconnect across biographical and geographical boundaries.
