The more technology promises to make the world visible, measurable and recognisable, the more persistently something seems to elude its grasp. *Cabinet fluidifié* turns its attention to the peculiar historical proximity between technology and spiritualism – and to the curious fact that every device we invent to make more of the world visible or recognisable simultaneously leaves something beyond its reach. Curated by Mirela Baciak, the exhibition draws on two moments of radical technological change: the industrialisation of the 19th century and our current era of artificial intelligence. In the 19th century, as science increasingly sought to measure, classify and explain the world, spiritualists drew on precisely the same technologies to photograph spirits, record invisible forces and even capture thoughts or the human soul. Today, machines once again promise new forms of vision and knowledge, yet AI no longer merely records what exists: it reconfigures. *Cabinet fluidifié* connects these two moments and asks what happens to the invisible when technology attempts to capture it – and what continues to elude it.
