With ‘Fremd’ (Strange), the off_gallery continues its ‘Political Spaces’ series. The exhibition is intended as a warning against the rise of fascism in Central European societies. Jasenko Rasol’s work combines images of a section of the ‘Balkan Route’ in Istria with photographs of aggressive football fans and cheerleaders dressed in traditional folk costumes. With the same photographic precision, Rasol documents traces of people who must hide in order to survive, alongside the staged display of belonging to authoritarian collectives.
