Austria, Germany and Switzerland are the guest of honour countries at the 31st Budapest International Book Festival. The festival will feature some of the most exciting voices in contemporary German-language literature, including Dimitré Dinev, Tonio Schachinger, Johanna Sebauer, Gábor Fónyad, Daniel Wisser, Natalka Sniadanko, Katja Brandis, Stefanie Höfler, Martin Korte, Martina Hefter, Eugen Ruge, Sarah Welk, Christian Kracht, Kristina Moninger, Melinda Nadj Abonji and Nelio Biedermann. Alongside children’s and young adult novels (from Austria: Elisabeth Steinkellner and Michael Roher) and popular science books, the focus is on contemporary novels that explore family memories, history, migration, identity, the experiences of minorities and current social issues. The Forrás Summer Edition on contemporary Austrian literature will also be presented at the festival.
