As part of B-Murals in Barcelona, the Austrian artist Olivier Hölzl is creating a new large-scale mural entitled ‘Infinite Consumption’, which continues his ongoing exploration of attention, consumption and ‘infinite scrolling’. Olivier Hölzl explores the desire to find moments of calm and concentration in a present characterised by constant digital distraction. He asks whether profound social and environmental change is even possible as long as we operate within systems based on perpetual consumption. The artist does not view the wall installation as a definitive answer, but rather as an attempt to make these contradictions visible and to create a moment of pause amidst the visual overload. The project in Barcelona offers the first opportunity to present this body of work to a Spanish audience.
