14.10.2026 – 17.10.2026
Once again, Linz will become a hub for international short film in October. The Linz International Short Film Festival (Linz ISFF) brings together filmmakers, emerging talent, film industry professionals and film enthusiasts from Austria and around the world. Alongside the film screenings, the focus is on networking and exchange. Film talks, discussions and industry events create opportunities for new contacts and collaborations, linking Linz’s cultural scene with the international independent film world. Submissions come from almost every corner of the globe – from Europe, Africa and the Middle East, through Asia, to North, Central and South America. Films from countries such as Spain, Iran, Brazil, Germany, Egypt, Nigeria, Mexico, India, China, South Africa, Argentina, Indonesia, Italy and Austria highlight the vast geographical and cultural diversity of this year’s submissions. The four days of the festival centre on short films in the genres of fiction, documentary and animation. The film programme is complemented by special programmes, talks and discussions, as well as the Film Talent Academy with residencies and pitch sessions. A particular highlight of the programme is the 4th Queer Feminist Day on 15 October at the City-Kino. This festival day is dedicated to queer-feminist perspectives in contemporary film and combines film screenings with discussion, exchange and concrete support for filmmakers.
