This year, the folk.art Festival is dedicated to a very special theme. – The ‘Festival of Life’ invites us to focus on what really matters – on the many small moments, situations and stages that make up our lives. It is not just the major events, but often also – or perhaps especially – the quiet, fleeting moments, encounters and instants that give life its meaning. A smile, a conversation, a shared rhythm, a quiet moment of listening, a sense of connection. This year’s edition is conceived as a space in which this diversity of life becomes visible, audible and tangible – across cultural, linguistic and geographical boundaries. Music from all over the world tells of origins and the future, of joy and loss, of community and individuality, of new beginnings, movement and moments of stillness. The festival opens with an album launch by Anja Om Plus, in which the ensemble led by Anja Obermayer explores the highs and lows of human relationships through a blend of jazz, chamber pop and contemporary vocal music. At the Trio Hupsala concert in St. Stefan ob Stainz, Alpine folk music, yodelling and traditional instruments meet Irish influences and experimental soundscapes. Even the youngest visitors will be in for a treat at the children’s concerts with Lara Löwin, who playfully introduces music and rhythms from all over the world. Next up are the Shaari Ensemble & Claudio Spieler, who blend Persian tradition with jazz, pop and global influences. Wolfram Berger and Jakob Nöhrer invite you to a literary and musical evening exploring love, transience and the big questions of life and death.
