Liviu Bulea, Visual Artist / Scholar of the Styria-Artist-in-Residence programme, Graz

“From an artistic point of view, Graz is a very progressive and cosmopolitan city,” says Liviu Bulea. He is a visual artist from Turda, Romania. In 2018, Liviu Bulea received a scholarship in Graz through the program of the Styrian Provincial Government of Styria-Artist-in-Residence (St.A.i.R.), where he is working on a project on the concept of home, from the point of view of refugees and immigrants.
Part of his work consists of works composed of remnants of building material. They stand for the houses of Romanians living abroad that were built in the hope that one day they will move back to Romania. As a result there stand rows of empty, uninhabited houses in Romania some of them are already falling into ruins again.
In addition to the museums and galleries, Liviu Bulea likes to visit the parks and green spaces of Graz, especially the park around the castle Eggenberg.
