Montforter Zwischentöne about losing oneself, in the world and in music.
Funerals, competitions and meditations: The first edition of the Montforter Zwischentöne(eng. nuances) in the new year is very varied. Under the motto “(sich) verlieren” eng. loosing (oneself) the festival reinterprets classical music and asks about getting lost.
At three funerals, philosophy, music and architecture bid farewell to old acquaintances: certainty, privacy and leisure. The eulogies are delivered by the philosopher Alice Lagaay (certainties), the former Federal Data Protection Commissioner of Germany Peter Schaar (privacy) and the philosopher Thomas Macho (leisure). There will be music by Josquin Desprez, Johannes Ockeghem, Arcangelo Corelli, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Maurice Ravel, Marc Mellits, Nina Simone, George Gershwin, Carola Bauckholt and others, played by the Vienna Reed Quintet.
The Montforter Zwischentöne are opened with a greeting from the kitchen. The Hugo Pitch Competition for new concert formats will follow the day after. Morning concerts and Bach meditations complete the program. A concert with music from Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, the birth piece of the opera, concludes the festival.
