Alma Heikkilä „Not visible or recognizable in any form“ / Grazer Kunstverein

Works by Alma Heikkilä are on display at the Grazer Kunstverein. The artist is fascinated by the collective activities of the earth’s creatures; from nematodes to fungi, spores and mycelium. Heikkilä’s artistic work evokes a deep sensory knowledge of ecosystems and the interdependence of myriad organisms in mutual co-existence. Heikkilä finds her form in sculpture and large-scale painting; in doing so, she aims to create a space for people to imagine a direct encounter or experience with the invisible processes that take place in the soil, often on a microscopic level.
