H.C. Artmann as an eternal traveller: photographs, life documents and correspondence, as well as works from the estate library, bear witness to the stations in the life of the multilingual poet H.C. Artmann, who would have turned 100 on June 12, 2021. His travels took him to the borders of Europe and beyond, Artmann cultivated the image of a traveler, saying of himself “I am an adventurer and not a poet”. The postal greeting “from the end of the world,” which Artmann sent from Ireland in the 1970s, offers a space of association according to which the approximately 50 exhibits in the exhibition were selected and grouped: The thematic range extends from travel to exile or banishment to ideas of the geographical end of the world and the end of the world.
