This year, the 20th edition of VIENNA SHORTS is dedicated to time in its most ephemeral unity: the moment that cannot be missed, that cannot be repeated, that should be used.
Under the motto Just A Moment, Please! the eye is sharpened for the essentials, attention is paid to the smallest things – and a short breath before we expose ourselves to the world around us again.
More than 300 films are on the program at the international short film festival, around a third of which compete in four competitions for prize money of almost €30,000 and qualification for the Oscars® and the European Film Prize.
Portraits are dedicated to Kevin Jerome Everson and Claudrena N. Harold (US) and Christiana Perschon (AT). In addition, there are genre gems in Late Night, films on current topics such as the climate crisis, protests in Iran and artificial intelligence, audiovisual live performances and an extended program for children and young people.
