New York-based artist, curator, lecturer and critic Kenny Schachter is deeply involved with crypto art and NFTs. Schachter also likes to question the traditional art business.
With his multi-layered artistic work, he impressively illustrates current social phenomena. The title of the exhibition Keep Hope Alive refers to an Irish racehorse that never quite became a winner despite promising prospects. But as the name suggests: never give up, no matter how adverse the circumstances. Kenny Schachter applies this motto to the art world, which for him is a daunting place in an uninviting environment, with limited accessibility, and characterised by an exclusionary mentality.
The multimedia exhibition consists of paintings, sculptures, installations and videos, all derived from digital data and spanning the artist’s nearly 30 years of work. A cross-section of his videos, most of which relate to the art ecosystem, can be seen in the three rooms of the Francisco Carolinum.
