In the exhibition land in sight, Michael Kienzer is showing a new work, a large, almost floor-covering installation from his series “melted into the surroundings”. His current works are often conceived for the floor, a loosely assembled interplay of materials that are both found objects and material remnants from the studio – an exploration of qualities and associations like a narrative trail into the depths of space.
Michael Horsky’s landscapes are an equally constant questioning of artistic form. He extracts small sections and patterns from the overwhelming density of what he sees in order to approach the concept of the picture itself in an abstract and, as it were, sculptural manner. The colour forms of serial flowers, bushes, vineyards, furrows in the fields and exposed bodies are the repeatedly reworked ways of arriving at what the picture itself wants, far removed from what is known, thought and familiar.
