ArchaeoRegion Südweststeiermark has a particularly rich archaeological heritage. It shows the millennia-old history of the interaction between nature and mankind.
The regional archaeology initiatives in south-west Styria joined forces in 2019 and have been working together ever since. In addition to research and protection, their main aim is to make the archaeological heritage visible to the public. The Universalmuseum Joanneum is also firmly anchored in the region thanks to its decades of research activities. The exhibition – curated by Barbara Porod and Christoph Gutjahr – shows highlights of the archaeological museum in a natural context and the communication of cultural heritage through the ArchaeoRegion Südweststeiermark.
