Blackouts, natural disasters, pandemics, global supply bottlenecks, financial crises, human rights violations or wars – how safe are people? Impact Lech 2024 is about what can and must be done to ensure the objective and subjective safety of individuals and communities in our time. In particular, it will also discuss how many rules and regulations and how much freedom people need to live and work.
Once again this year, the basic principle of bringing together experts from a wide range of fields to discuss a general topic will form the central theme of Impact Lech. The topic of “Protection as risk mitigation”, focussing on the questions “Protection through neutrality?”, “Protection from terror?” and “How protected is Austria?” will be highlighted and discussed by the Swiss ambassador Salome Meyer, the Austrian-Afghan war reporter Emran Feroz and General Rudolf Striedinger. Security and human freedom are at the centre of the lectures by Volker Viechtbauer, criminal psychologist Thomas Müller and philosopher Konrad Paul Liessmann. Journalists Hannelore Veit and Paul Krisai will shed light on developments in the USA and Russia and discuss the social and economic consequences of international insecurity.
