Stamps, coins, souvenirs and even unusual items. People have always been collectors. But collecting is more than just hoarding objects; collecting means remembering – of a bygone era. Once simple everyday objects are now museum artefacts with all their traces of use, telling the story(s) of life, work, social values, craftsmanship, living situations, technical developments, etc. of earlier generations. In the exhibition curated by Michaela Steinböck-Köhler, these ordinary, inconspicuous objects, most of which no longer fit in with modern times, are placed centre stage and thus become rare museum treasures.
