The exhibition ‘View From Above’ brings a world premiere to Graz city centre; NASA astronaut Terry Virts presents breathtaking photographs taken during his missions on the International Space Station (ISS). With over 200 days in space and 200,000 photos taken, he is one of NASA’s most experienced space travellers In the largest vacant commercial space in the city centre – the former ‘Home’ building of Kastner & Öhler – around 170 large-format photographs and videos are presented on 1,500 m². These show the beauty of our planet, spectacular aerial shots and moments of life in space. The exhibition is divided into five stations: from intensive NASA training programmes to spectacular images of Earth from space. Visitors experience everyday life on the ISS and the challenges of space travel at first hand. The exhibition combines state-of-the-art technology with unique storytelling. Via the scan.art audio guide, recorded by Terry Virts himself, visitors can use their own smartphone to gain additional insights into the works on display – available in German and English.
