In addition to the main festival in September, every year the SLASH team organises the SLASH one-and-a-half festival in spring in close cooperation with the Crossing Europe Film Festival and with a strong focus on European fantastic film, as well as a Christmas special with selected premieres that create a slightly different festive atmosphere.
This year, nine hypnotically dazzling gems of current genre cinema will lure you into the darkness of the Filmcasino The following four titles will be presented as Austrian premieres: In Lorcan Finnegan’s insane THE SURFER, SLASH BFF Nicolas Cage gets to go crazy with a surfboard in the Australian heat this time. THE RULE OF JENNY PEN, in which James Ashcroft brings together legends John Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush into a bitterly evil retirement home nightmare. With CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD, Eli Craig bows deeply to the high art of the slasher and offers his extremely amusing version of the killer clown. Ryan Kruger delivers the most beautiful outgrowth of the neglected sub-sub-genre of the ‘melt movie’ with his remake of STREET TRASH. Vienna premieres include The Black Hole, The Ugly Stepsister, U Are the Universe, Spermageddon and Reflection in a Dead Diamond.
