With his unmistakable monochrome paintings, Jakob Gasteiger is one of the most important Austrian positions in contemporary art. The Salzburg-born artist, to whom the Museum Liaunig is currently dedicating a solo exhibition, is a representative of analytical painting and questions the parameters of painting in his works, thematising, expanding and breaking through the boundaries of graphics, painting and sculpture. Powerful works await visitors in dialogue with Clemens Wolf, whose artistic work deals with capturing unreproducible moments. In the series of his ‘parachute paintings’, old, discarded parachutes are captured in the movement of collapsing and solidified into sculptures and paintings when dipped in epoxy resin.
