Mouss Black is an artist from Burkina Faso. He first came into contact with art as a teenager at the Fondation Olorun. Over the years, he has built a solid reputation for his unique sculptural works, in which he skilfully combines wood and iron, sometimes enhancing them with canvas and recycled objects. More recently, he has expanded his artistic exploration into the field of drawing, where his focus on the diversity of the medium is equally striking. For Mouss Black, painting and sculpture are not separate disciplines, but rather complementary approaches that enable him to explore, with great expressiveness, the questions of today’s world—a world that eludes him and which he seeks to understand. His works reflect this artistic and intellectual quest, a constant search for meaning in an ever-changing world. In his artistic practice, Mouss Black finds inspiration in everything around him: the cacophony of urban sounds, the burning rubbish, the engine fumes mingling with red dust, and the atmosphere of Ouagadougou, the city where he lives.
