The 2025 Salzburg Festival once again promises to be a world-class cultural highlight; over 45 days with 174 performances, a varied programme will be presented at 16 venues.
The leitmotif of this year’s festival operas is ‘power’, impressively embodied in George Frideric Handel’s ‘Giulio in Egitto’, Gaetano Donizetti’s ‘Maria Stuarda’ and Giuseppe Verdi’s ‘Macbeth’.
In addition to ‘Jedermann’, once again starring Philipp Hochmair as Jedermann and Deleila Piasko as Buhlschaft, the theatre programme includes a co-production with the Vienna Burgtheater, Karl Kraus’ “Letzten Tage der Menschheit”.
The festival’s concert series is dedicated to both classical and contemporary works. A special focus is on Gustav Mahler’s ‘Das Lied von der Erde’, which deals with themes such as farewell and return. The ‘Ouverture Spirituelle’ opens the festival with spiritual works and invites the audience to reflect on the big questions of life.

‘young & everyone’ – the Salzburg Festival’s youth programme With 37 performances and numerous school programmes (from April to August), the Salzburg Festival once again offers a comprehensive educational programme for children and young people.
