In its current exhibition, AG18 Gallery presents a colourful selection of black artists from Burkina Faso, Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria, Mali – and Vienna, which cannot be seen anywhere else in Austria. The term ‘diversity’ is already somewhat overused in the art world. It is often used when art is shown that does not belong to the (predominantly white, male) mainstream. Yet art is diverse by its very nature. Diversity is inherent in art. This is precisely what makes visits to galleries and museums stimulating and exciting. Obvious? All the better. So then: ‘Diversity, what else?’ Discovering new things with curiosity. Engaging with surprising ideas and works, perspectives and insights. With opportunities to experience the world in a more nuanced way and understand it better. With works by Gerald Chukwuma, Louise Deininger, Wasiu Eshinlokun, Daniela Frimpong-Mansoh, Enoch Nii Amon Hammond, Hako Hankson, Noumbimboo Leuna, Johnson Ocheja, Ayanfe Olarinde, Esther Ojo, Adjaratou Ouedraogo and Daouda Traore.
