The exhibition title, a different kind of horizon, refers to the unique view of Lake Constance offered by the exhibition rooms. It is a comprehensive solo exhibition by Upper Austrian artist Anton Kehrer, whose work dissolves the boundaries between photography, painting, graphic art, light art and sculpture. In his intermedia and holistic approach, Kehrer addresses the fundamentals of human visual perception – colour, light and space – and their transformative character in the eyes of the viewer. The Bregenz show also features photographic works created in the studio since 2007. The artist layers small, translucent, industrial colour sample plates on top of each other on a light table. The photographs reveal the additive colour mixtures created in this way – a practice similar to mixing colours on a painter’s palette.
