The Academy of Ceramics Gmunden (AoCG), run by Gmundner Keramik and OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH, aims to promote exchange and mutual inspiration between one of Europe’s oldest ceramics centres and contemporary artists. Artist-in-residence stays, accompanying exhibitions and discourse formats encourage the transfer of artistic and technical expertise. With the exhibition curated by Genoveva Rückert, Gmundner Keramik Manufaktur opens its workshops to guest artists and provides both the necessary infrastructure and expert support. In doing so, the AoCG continues the long tradition of combining craftsmanship and fine art – a lineage that dates back to the Viennese ceramics produced in Gmunden and their characteristic Art Nouveau objects.
