Monika Grabuschnigg’s artistic perspective is shaped by questions about human nature, as well as by feelings of alienation and isolation (particularly in the tension between human progress and environmental destruction). In her work, the artist explores how our bodies behave and adapt in hyper-commercialised societies; how we care for and long for one another in this context; and the consequences of technological acceleration. “As I live in a world where capitalism has imposed emotional insecurity on many of us, the complexities of contemporary love, desire, longing, grief and loneliness are also at the heart of my research and work.”
