ImPulsTanz, Europe’s largest dance festival, will once again bring together the international dance and performance scene in Vienna in 2026. This year, ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival is presenting 56 productions across 15 venues – from the Burgtheater and the Odeon to the mumok. The programme features 12 world premieres, 29 Austrian premieres, 5 ImPulsTanz Classics and 11 pieces from the [8:tension] Young Choreographers’ Series. The festival also invites visitors to an exhibition by Christopher Matthews and, every evening, to the festival lounge in the Burgtheater’s vestibule – as well as to two evenings in the Arkadenhof at Vienna City Hall. In 2026, ImPulsTanz will devote a special focus to the South Korean dance and performance scene. The spotlight will be on Eun-Me Ahn with the productions *North Korea Dance* and *Post-Orientalist Express*. This focus will be complemented by works by the Vienna-based artist Hyeji Nam, as well as workshops led by Esther Jeong and He Jin Jang. The festival will open with Greek choreographer Christos Papadopoulos’s *My Fierce Ignorant Step* at the Volkstheater. At the Burgtheater, the programme features Il Cimento dell’Armonia e dell’Inventione by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Radouan Mriziga – a celebrated ImPulsTanz classic – accompanied by the renowned violinist Amandine Beyer and her ensemble Gli Incogniti.
