Having previously explored popular piety, taxidermy and insects in his work, Erich Gruber is now, for the first time, placing the human figure at the centre of his focus. Drawing on personal themes, he explores questions of existence and transience. The result is a series of multi-layered, physically playful works on paper and deeply moving pencil drawings that create a tension between persistence and departure, stagnation and change.
