With the support of EUNIC Global, the network of European cultural institutes operating in Romania (EUNIC Romania) is running the ‘Accessibility Constellation’ project in 2026. It brings together artists with and without disabilities, accessibility experts and cultural institutions to develop innovative approaches to accessibility in the cultural sector. As part of the project, the “Accessibility Academy” event, taking place in Bucharest from 3 to 4 September, will bring together experts from seven countries with cultural practitioners and artists with disabilities from across Romania. Over the course of two days, training sessions will be held to familiarise participants with the needs of people with disabilities and highlight ways to make cultural projects accessible. At the invitation of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Bucharest, Herbert Gantschacher, Director General of ARBOS – Society for Music and Theatre (Salzburg), will lead the workshop ‘Working with Deaf Artists’. Drawing on his commitment to accessible theatre, he will present strategies he has developed whilst training deaf actors and staging plays for a young deaf audience.
