The words ‘All monsters are human’ are more than just a dramatic line. They remind us of something humanity has always known, but hardly dares to say: monsters are not outside us. They live within us. From ancient myths of sacrifice and violence to the suffering body of Christ, from Picasso’s *Guernica* to Rembrandt’s *The Anatomy Lesson*, Caravaggio’s *Medusa* and Rubens’ blood-soaked mythologies – art has always looked where we would rather look away. It gives form to fear, cruelty, pain, madness and death – not to shock, but to bear witness. The exhibition, curated by Nina Jeza, continues this tradition. Through demons, apparitions, disfigured bodies, inner beasts and grotesque worlds, the artists explore the darkness of human existence. Their works present monsters not as fantastical creatures, but as mirrors: of war, fear, violence, insecurity, desire, guilt and survival.
