In October, studios and galleries across Upper Austria will once again open their doors for two days, offering the chance to discover contemporary art and meet artists. The ‘Open Studios Days’ initiative has grown over more than three decades, both in terms of participants and visitors. This is a welcome development that reflects the vibrant, growing cultural life in Upper Austria. Credit for this goes to the many artists who open their studios and, increasingly, organise specially designed programmes for the “Open Studio Days”, sometimes in collaboration with other artists. The popular ‘art tours’ are a staple of the ‘Open Studios Days’. These guided tours through selected art spaces are designed and organised each year by art educators. An interactive map of Upper Austria is available to help visitors plan their own itinerary through the studios and galleries during the ‘Open Studios’ weekend. It features all participating venues, along with information on the art forms represented, opening hours and contact details.
