“Austria. Photography 1970–2000” / Museum der Moderne Salzburg

10.03 – 01.07.2018; Salzburg.
Austria in the focus of the domestic lens.

From the 1970s, Austrian photographers began increasingly to question their own country, their cultural identities, social milieus and traditions. This exhibition by curator Christiane Kuhlmann and guest curator Walter Moser from the Albertina Vienna casts a glance inwards, which shows in a direct way and without frills what was about to disappear. It led to a variety of photographic trends, documentary strategies, staged tableaus, and a self-reflecting confrontation with the medium itself, which characterized the development of photography from 1970 to 2000.
