An exhibition at the MAK is dedicated to Otto Prutscher – the old designer of Viennese Modernism. Prutscher was an architect and designer, exhibition designer, teacher and member of all important reform art movements – from the Secession to the Wiener Werkstätte and the Werkbund – and played an enormous role in the development of Viennese Modernism. Selected examples from his complex oeuvre document his decades of influential role as a designer and consultant for the most important arts and crafts firms of his time. Otto Prutscher’s legacy ranges from buildings to furnishings, individual pieces of furniture and tableware.
