Vienna-based artist Sophie Thun presents her first solo exhibition in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Sophie Thun is relocating her work studio to the Cukrarna Gallery for five weeks.
Galerie Cukrarna is a former sugar factory and just like after a big fire the sugar crept into every crack of the building and merged with the building, Sophie Thun merges her artistic work with her life and the place in a performative way. It eludes the temporal processes of artistic production and creates its own temporality. Last but not least, she regained her artistic self-determination and her life.
Her working space is a setting of expansive photographic interventions and two floor-to-ceiling steel walls that represent her visual archive. In these five weeks we can see a constantly changing exhibition, the transformations of which are collected and published in a catalogue.
