Tillman Kaiser’s kaleidoscopic world of forms has been formed through his exploration of architecture and his very personal drawing; there are mysterious objects that rise up totem-like and are reminiscent of buildings or creatures. Their crystalline structures are constructed using bookbinding materials such as paper, cardboard, glue and staples, in combination with found objects from nature or pop culture. In the prints and paintings, Kaiser superimposes cameraless light imprints of objects with overpaintings resembling rays of light in a clear and haunting cosmos of colour: an enigmatic pictorial space that seems to float transparently. Many of his works are based on experimental photograms or 24-hour direct exposures taken with a large cardboard camera obscura. The exhibition features radiant crystalline objects made of paper, bookbinding board, glue and staples as well as large paintings made of photograms, reworked with luminous faceting in blue, red and white.
