29.05.2026 – 26.10.2026
The Joanneumsviertel was officially opened in 2011. As part of this event, the BRUSEUM’s collection was presented to the public in its entirety for the first and last time. Fifteen years on, the museum is once again offering a glimpse into its diverse collection and is staging a retrospective exhibition of the artist, who passed away in February 2024, curated by Roman Grabner and drawn from its own holdings. In view of increasingly tight budgets, the focus is not only on the quality of the museum’s own collection, but also specifically on the additions to the collection in recent years through donations and permanent loans. Necessary refurbishment work in the museum spaces is incorporated into the aesthetics of the exhibition displays and addresses the ongoing work on and with the museum’s own collection. At the same time, the exhibition also highlights the conditions under which the artist exhibited during the early decades of his career, when museum exhibition spaces and white cubes were the exception.
