Marianne Lang’s drawings operate within a field where stable orders become unstable and systems are set in motion. They explore those moments when structures tip over – when transitions between control and openness, between continuity and rupture, become concentrated. In doing so, they reveal how seemingly controlled structures follow the inherent logic of processual dynamics and shift into the open. Here, change appears not as an exception, but as a constitutive principle. Lang’s works address fundamental questions of control, predictability and the relationship between humanity and nature. They navigate a field of tension that spans the spectrum between distance and connection, and bring it into a present in which nature is experienced less as an antithesis and more as an unstable, divided reality.
