In 2026, the Sommerszene once again offers a colourful programme: fourteen productions, including five Austrian premieres and two world premieres, spanning a wide artistic spectrum. The thematic perspectives, aesthetic languages and stylistic forms impressively demonstrate the socio-political urgency of choreography and performance. Sasha Waltz’s dance classic Travelogue I – Twenty to eight, which depicts the interpersonal, everyday microcosm with expressiveness, rhythm and wit, has lost none of its relevance. Jan Martens’s jumping performance THE DOG DAYS ARE OVER 2.0 has long enjoyed cult status and fascinates with its formal structure, supreme precision and physical endurance. She is currently making dance history: French choreographer Leĭla Ka presents her electrifying debut Maldonne, a hymn to women’s rebellion and strength, for the first time in Austria. Marco da Silva Ferreira also sends a powerful political message: in F*cking Future, he stages the collective body between euphoria and threat through striking imagery. In his multi-layered performance Tomorrow we dreamed of yesterday, Michikazu Matsune explores fictional encounters and past dreams. The finale is Come Back Again with Doris Uhlich & Susanne Kirnbauer, who challenge their own bodily biographies in their acclaimed duet. Once again, the Salzburg community is making a strong artistic statement: Rosana Ribeiro is premiering *Break the Dam*; for the BODHI PROJECT, Ann Van den Broek is restaging *We Solo Men*; Cornelia Böhnisch and Katharina Schrott are creating an atmospheric atmosphere in the Kollegienkirche with *Rauschen*; and Applied Theatre invites audiences to *BODIES, BORDERS, POROSITY*. The programme is rounded off by guest performances: Alberto Cissello enchants with POINT FIXE, Solène Weinachter captures the hearts of the audience with AFTER ALL, Deva Schubert brings the Kunstverein to life with missed tones, and in the Kurgarten, two participatory, laid-back installations by Dimitri de Perrot – INTO THE DIRT & SCHAUFENSTER #1 – await you.
