THE DEVIL’S PARTY is a project by Wolf D. Hoefert; in this series, created between 2020 and 2022, the artist adapts Mikhail Bulgakov’s seminal novel *The Master and Margarita* to the present day through 99 plus 9 prints. Power and its abuse, the susceptibility of the masses to seduction, and the cowardice of the individual are the central themes of the book, which is therefore just as relevant today as it was when it was completed 86 years ago. The works on display are neither a commentary on current events nor on contemporary figures. Any similarities are therefore neither intentional nor coincidental, but rather inevitable, for reality has often caught up with art. The paperback edition (22nd edition) of the Luchterhand collection, translated by Thomas Reschke, served as the basis. All image titles are direct quotations from the book and have therefore been marked with the relevant page number.
