The Bavarian Forest, in all its facets, shapes Annemarie Pletl’s artistic work. She has also explored the former granary near Weißenstein Castle, which the writer Siegfried von Vegesack acquired in 1918 and which he dubbed ‘the Devouring House’ due to its immense maintenance costs. The exhibition *Zu Gast bei Kubin* (A Guest at Kubin’s) explores the friendship between the writer Vegesack and the painter and draughtsman Alfred Kubin. Alfred and Hedwig Kubin were frequent guests at ‘the Devouring House’, and a lively correspondence continued until 1957. Pletl’s vividly coloured, abstract works capture this atmosphere and preserve the spirit of the ‘Waldland’ through poetic visual language.
