Luis Sammer is one of the leading figures of Styrian Modernism. His extensive body of work spans landscape, figuration and free abstraction. Colour, form and gesture become vehicles for existential questions and poetic pictorial spaces. On the occasion of his 90th birthday, Luis Sammer engages with his own work as an independent counterpart—one that is not only created to enter into dialogue with the viewer, but above all continually challenges the artist himself and leaves him pondering.
