To mark the opening of the Koralm Tunnel, the Pavelhaus is organising the exhibition ‘Der Tunnelblick’ (Tunnel Vision), in which artists from Styria, Carinthia and Slovenia engage in an artistic dialogue exploring the new link between the two federal states. At the same time, the exhibition aims to examine the historical and cultural ties that exist between the two federal states. The tragic events at the Peršmanhof on 27 July 2025 and the way they have been ‘processed’ reveal glaring democratic shortcomings that must be addressed through cultural and peace-building work. Nationalism and fascism are dangers that, like the use of nuclear technology, must be met with constant vigilance. To this end, a kaki tree will be planted as a symbol of peace in collaboration with the Graz Initiative for Peace and Neutrality (GIFFUN) and the Nagasaki-Brescia Kaki Tree Project for Europe. Furthermore, the project ‘4th Block’ Nuclear Scar: Yesterday – Today – Tomorrow, part of the International Poster Triennial, will commemorate the Chernobyl disaster 40 years ago.
