The Graz Improfest Episode 04 invites you once again in 2026 to experience improvisation in all its facets. Musicians, performers and the audience improvise beyond fixed structures. Over seven days, there will once again be lectures, workshops, improvisation sessions, concerts and performances, all dedicated to interdisciplinary improvisation. Special highlights: improvisation and nature expert and flautist Sabine Vogel will travel down the River Mur on a raft. The STIO / Styrian Improvisers Orchestra will showcase its collective musical language. British improvisation legend Steve Beresford is in Graz! BLIND-DATE Concerts! Meet, greet and play: an evening dedicated to the performance and music of extraordinary improvisational musicians in a dynamic process of listening and interaction. The PLAY-FIGHT Gathering takes place in a ‘safer space’, under the motto: All together now! The VSC Vienna Soundpainting Collective will be presenting a workshop, performance and free improvisation session. ART-BRUNCH and a hybrid panel discussion, featuring international experts from Switzerland, the UK, India and Iran, on improvisation as a socio-political act.
