The exhibition ‘We Came to Be Human’ by the Bulgarian Artists’ Association is taking place with the support of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Sofia. It focuses on the convergence of the artistic perspectives of Mustafa Horasan and Hüseyin Işık, whose work is shaped by a shared artistic education and similar historical and social experiences. Works created between Istanbul and Vienna explore themes of identity, memory, migration, human vulnerability and the question of what it means to be human.
The unexpected death of Mustafa Horasan during the preparations lends the exhibition an additional, personal dimension. It becomes a place of remembrance whilst at the same time continuing the artistic dialogue between the two artists.
