The coexistence of such diverse human worldviews – some of which appear innocent because they stem from epistemological ignorance, whilst others are aggressively opposed to them – has brought us into an explosive situation; despite many insights, the destruction of the world is not being halted. What is at stake, then, is urgent empathy, respect and commitment: against egocentrism, which holds personal importance and individuality as its supreme principle and fails to recognise the possibility of placing this uniqueness at the service of humanity in the spirit of human rights. In the exhibition, three Styrian artists – Josef Fürpaß, Monika Schönbacher-Frischenschlager and Christine Ulm – use different approaches to explore the essentials of our lives: experience, joy, insight, finitude, but also hope and confidence.
