The project ITERATIONS is committed to the future of artistic collaboration in digitally networked contexts. Four international institutions bring together artists, theorists, software engineers and performers to an interdisciplinary exchange.
The conceptual model of ‘iteration’ (repetition) was inspired by the open source software development. The project applies repetition and circularity to artistic methodologies, in which the output from one activity is used as the input to the next.
Scientists collectively develop new ways of ‘art working’ which make space for collectivity and collaboration in the digital world. Research will be conducted jointly in Brussels, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Sicily and Graz over a period of three years, creating a complementary mix of synergies, capabilities, public and artistic networks.
ITERATIONS is carried out by Constant, esc mkl, Hangar and Dyne. org on an interdisciplinary basis. All organizations have a long practice in the realization of art and media art projects, but have different profiles.
