Let’s layer the cake and celebrate life!
Already exhibited in formats of different sizes and appearance, Eboran Gallery shows a series of several dozen works by artist Stefan Kreiger, which are an interpretation of the novel Dog Years by Günther Grass.
In reference to the protagonist Brauschel, who builds his scarecrows, disassembles them and reassembles them, Kreiger paints over his canvases, leaving, hiding and creating something new. Some of the works are in their third or fourth run and are literally multi-layered.
Leonardo da Vinci already worked in layers and thus created his sfumato. Arnulf Rainer painted over photographs. Kreiger uses both techniques to make his pictorial worlds visible.
And so it is probably the more developed that survive!
