The exhibition explores the visionary urban planning that has shaped Ljubljana over the past 20 years – a vision aimed at making it a more vibrant, better-connected, more liveable and more people-centred city. PINNED! tells the story of the transformation of the Municipality of Ljubljana (Mestna občina Ljubljana, or MOL for short) under the leadership of Mayor Zoran Janković and the guidance of Deputy Mayor and de facto city architect Janez Koželj. It is also a story of ‘urban acupuncture’ – a term Koželj uses to describe his pinpoint-like strategic interventions, both small and large, across the city. Through the more than 50 projects implemented during his 20-year tenure, Ljubljana has undergone an enormous, largely positive transformation. Curated by Jeff Bickert, the exhibition reflects this approach by presenting a broad spectrum of projects: from parks, riverside developments and bridges to squares, museums and entire urban development schemes. It is organised into six key themes: historical heritage and innovation, public space, green and water spaces, brownfield regeneration, mobility and fluidity, and social connectivity. On display is a series of award-winning key projects, such as the now car-free Slovenska Street, the waterfront developments along the River Ljubljanica, the Centre Rog creative and social hub, and the Cukrarna cultural centre.
